This slot is a unique take on the tried and trusted underwater theme by up and coming slot software house Yggdrasil. Graphically, it is amazing. All of the symbols are 3D, and each has it’s own animation when involved in a win. One of the main reasons to play is the free spins bonus round. The setting for the reels appears to be an underwater city, or maybe an aquatic amusement park. Reels are transparent, with the city becoming clearer for a second when you spin. Each of the symbols is colourful and 3-dimensional. These include a big green grinning puffer fish, a crab, an octopus and a mantis shrimp. When you win with each symbol they will twist on the screen, sometimes with a sound effect (think ‘yay!’ type noises). In the background a light hearted tune plays, this is multi-layered and complimented by bubble noises when you spin the reels. Setup and Play for Reef Run

There are 20 win lines for this game. I was not able to adjust these, although there is a + / – sign next to the number. I was able to adjust the bet size, which ranged from 1c up to €2 – giving a spin range of 20c through to €40. Auto spin lets you choose up to 1000 games at a time and the settings for sound and speed can be found via the small buttons on the bottom left of the reels.

Green puffer fish are the best paying symbol. Get 5 of these on a win line and you will get 1000 coins, with 200 for 4 and 30 for 3. Next comes the crab with the big red claw, valued at 500 for 5. The mantis shrimp is worth 400, octopus 200, snail 100 and the seahorse 75.

There is only a single special symbol on the reels in the form of the Free Spins logo. There are shifting wilds, expanding wilds, nor any other kind of wild symbols in this game. 3 of the Free Spin symbols gets you 10 spins, 4 gets you 20 and 5 gets you a huge 60 free spins.

Reef Run Bonus Game

You’ll be taken to a new setting for the bonus round, or at least the background of the reels changes to what looks like an underwater warehouse. At the sides of the reels you will see each of the creatures, though these are the same colour as the reels to start with and not particularly prominent.

Each time you hit a win with a symbol; the coloured version appears and counts up your multiplier for future wins. For example, your first win with the crab will be at the standard win rate. The crab then appears in his slot at the side of the reels, with the first of 3 levels. The next win with the crab then gets you a 5x multiplier, and puts that symbol up to level 2 for 10x next time (and 20x the time after).

With several creatures having multipliers, your wins can quickly mount up during this bonus. In addition, you can collect more free spins to extend your bonus. 3, 4 or 5 earn the same 10, 20 and 60 extra spins as before. There is an addition of 2 extra spins for just 2 of the bonus logos while the free spins are going on.
