Knicks live betting
Whether the Knicks will be competitive in any given game is anybody’s guess. That’s one reason why the live Knicks betting might be more crucial to Knicks bettors than almost anything else.
NJ online sportsbooks offer live betting on every NBA game. That allows you to bet on or against the Knicks at live odds that change with the action on the court. It also allows for quarter, half, and even more in-game props betting at odds that are adjusted with just about every basket.
You can use the live betting markets to hedge pregame bets, but perhaps more importantly, you can’t wait to see what Knicks team shows up before you bet on or against them.
The speed at which live betting happens makes it perfectly suited for betting with mobile apps, where you can get down bets fast before the odds change again. Yet another reason why live Knicks betting with your favorite NJ online and mobile sportsbook app might be a Knicks fan’s best bet.
Betting on the Knicks from New York
There are plenty of different ways to get from New York to New Jersey to bet on the Knicks with any NJ online sportsbook.
You don’t have to live in New Jersey and you can sign up, make deposits, and look through the betting markets from New York. However, when it comes time to place a bet, you must get to New Jersey first.
You can sweat your bets back in N.Y., or stick around N.J. to watch the Knicks play on TV and bet on the game’s live odds. Either way, all bets must be placed while you’re inside N.J. Sportsbooks use unbeatable geolocation tech to ensure compliance with this law.
You can do just about anything else you’d ever want to with your account from inside either state, but there’s no betting outside N.J. Thank goodness there are plenty of different ways to get from N.Y. to N.J., and once you’re inside state lines, using NJ online and mobile sportsbooks couldn’t be easier.
Knicks betting lines explained
The Knicks aren’t going to be favorites going into many games in the 2022-23 season. That means a lot of the Knick game lines at NJ online sportsbooks will look something like this:
- TOR -3.5 (-110) -175 U 203.5 (-110)
- NYK +3.5 (-110) +155 O 203.5 (-110)
Here’s a quick guide to reading these Knick lines:
- The first number is the spread with the odds in brackets. Here, the Toronto Raptors need to win by four or more, but the Knicks can win or lose by three or less. Both bets will get you $100, plus your bet back, for every $110 you bet.
- The second number is the moneyline. Bet on the Knicks and if they win, you’ll win $155, plus your bet back, for every $100 you bet. Bet on the Raptors and if they win, you’ll win $100, plus your bet back, for every $175 you bet.
- The third number is the totals line with the odds in brackets. Bet that the total combined score will be over or under 203.5, and if you’re right, you’ll win $100, plus your bet back, for every $110 you bet.
Knicks Vegas odds vs. online odds
You’re bound to hear talk about Vegas odds and lines on Knicks games quite a bit. That’s because Vegas had odds and lines on Knicks games long before anyone else did. That said, Knicks game odds still open up the same at most Vegas sportsbooks as they at NJ online sportsbooks. Although, they may not end up the same by game time. Sportsbooks move lines when there’s more betting on one side or the other.
Because the Knicks are a local team, it’s a good bet more money is bet on Knicks games at NJ online and mobile sportsbooks than Las Vegas sportsbooks. That means there’s a bigger chance NJ online and mobile sportsbooks will make more money on one side than the other and be forced to move the line.

New York Knicks team history
The New York Knicks were established in 1946 and were a founding member of the Basketball Association of America, which became the NBA in 1949. The Knicks made three straight NBA Finals starting in 1950 but lost them all.
Coach Red Holzman helped the team win the NBA Championship in 1970 and 1973, as did stars Willis Reed and Earl “The Pearl” Monroe. The Knicks drafted center Patrick Ewing in 1985 and were highly competitive for the next decade-plus. They made the 1993–94 NBA Finals, the year Michal Jordan went to play baseball, but lost to the Houston Rockets.
The Knicks also went to the 1998-99 NBA Finals but lost to the San Antonio Spurs. They went as far as the Eastern Conference Finals the next season. Ewing left after the 1999–2000 season, beginning almost two decades of futility for the franchise.
The lone bright spot was a Conference Semifinals loss in the 2012-13 season behind superstar Carmello Anthony. Other than that, the Knicks have only made the playoffs four other times in the new millennium, all of which ended with first-round losses.
NY Knicks FAQ
James L. Dolan has essentially owned the New York Knicks for the past 20 years.
In 1977, Gulf and Western Industries bought Madison Square Garden Company and its holdings, which included the Knicks. A decade later Gulf and Western became Paramount Communications. Viacom bought Paramount in 1994 and sold the MSG/Knicks side of things to Cablevision and ITT Corporation.
Charles Dolan, James’ father, was Cablevision’s founder. James was named CEO in 1995. Cablevision bought out ITT Corporation in 1997 giving the Dolans full ownership of the Knicks. Two years later, Dolan was named MSG chairman and the Knicks’s new boss. They made the NBA Finals in his first year and have been terrible ever since.
It’s probably because he’s more of a cable guy than a basketball guy, but it could be that he was born into money rather than someone who had to work for it.
Either way, Dolan has looked bad in interactions with unhappy fans and former Knick greats (see: Charles Oakley), signed declining players to big-money contracts, and forced out several decent management personnel in favor of poor ones, leading many fans to determine he “sucks” as an owner.
Knicks tickets cost as little as $22. However, the average ticket price is $82 and courtside seats at MSG might cost anywhere from $2,650 to $5,600.
Most celebrities don’t pay for the courtside seats at MSG. Instead, they appear on the broadcast or scoreboard at some point, helping promote the Knicks and the game.
The Knicks have retired nine jersey numbers, including:
#10 Walt Frazier
#12 Dick Barnett
#15 Earl Monroe
#15 Dick McGuire
#19 Willis Reed
#22 Dave Debusschere
#24 Bill Bradley
#33 Patrick Ewing
#613 Red Holzman (wins)
Forbes estimates the Knicks are worth approximately $6.1 billion. That makes them #2 in the NBA, worth just a little more than the #3 LA Lakers at $5.9 billion.
The New York Knicks official Twitter account is @nyknicks. The account’s hashtag motto is #NewYorkForever. The Knicks joined Twitter in February 2009 and have 2.1 million followers.
The Knicks’ 2020-21 City Edition jersey leaked online in October 2020. The jersey is black with traditional Knicks orange and blue colors weaved on it. The logo looks like a subway token with the text “City Never Sleeps” on it.
