76ers betting lines explained
The 76ers are betting favorites this season, which means most sports betting lines look a lot like this example:
- PHI 76ers -3.5 (-110) -175 U 203.5 (-110)
- NY Knicks +3.5 (-110) +155 O 203.5 (-110)
First is the spread with the odds on spread bets in brackets. Here, the Sixers are 3.5-point favorites over the Knicks, which means the Sixers have to win by four or more for spread bets on the Sixers to win. Also, the Knicks must win outright, or lose by three or less, for spread bets on the Knicks to win.
Both bets are posted with -110 odds, which means you stand to win $100, plus your bet back, for every $110 wagered.
Second is the moneyline and here, the 76ers are -175 moneyline favorites and the Knicks are +155 moneyline underdogs. That means if you bet on the 76ers and they win, you’ll win $100, plus your bet back, for every $175 you bet. It also means if you bet on the Knicks and they win, you’ll win $155, plus your bet back, for every $100 you bet.
Then, there’s the totals line with the odds on totals bets in brackets.
Here, you can bet that the total score will be either over or under the line set by oddsmakers. Here, the line is 203.5 points. The half-point ensures there will be no push.
The over wins of 204 or more total points are scored and the under wins if 203 or fewer total points are scored. Both bets are posted with -110 odds, which means you stand to win $100, plus your bet back, for every $110 wagered.
76ers Vegas odds
The odds on 76ers games start the same at both NJ sportsbooks and Las Vegas sportsbooks. However, they might be different by the time tip-off rolls around.
Both NJ and Vegas sportsbooks set the lines to draw an equal amount of betting to each side. Then, when more money is bet on one side or the other, they’ll move that line to try to get back to even.
Wherever more money is bet on one side or the other is where the lines will change.
Because the Sixers are a local team, NJ online sportsbooks are more likely to take more bets on them. More bets mean a bigger chance more money will be bet on one side or the other, and therefore, a bigger chance the line will move here in NJ.

Brief 76ers history
The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the NBA’s oldest and most storied franchises. Hall of Famers who have worn a Sixers jersey include Wilt Chamberlain, ‘Dr. J’ Julius Erving, Moses Malone, Charles Barkley, and Allen Iverson.
However, the team has won just two NBA titles, in 1967 with Chamberlain, and in 1983 with Erving and Malone. Barkley never made the finals as a Sixer and although Iverson took them there in 2001, they lost to the Shaq and Kobe-led Los Angeles Lakers.
Billy Cunningham played on the 1967 championship team and coached the Sixers to the title in 1983.
76ers FAQ
The owner of the 76ers is a company called Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. Josh Harris and David Blitzer founded Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment 2017 to consolidate various holdings including the team, which they first purchased in 2011 from Comcast-Spectacor for $280 million.
You can get a 76ers ticket for just $14, but the average price of a ticket is $108. Courtside tickets are sold for $1,000.
The 76ers have retired the jerseys of nine 76ers greats, including:
- Dolph Schayes (4)
- Allen Iverson (3)
- Julius Erving (6)
- Maurice Cheeks (10)
- Wilt Chamberlain (13)
- Hal Greer (15)
- Bobby Jones (24)
- Billy Cunningham (32)
- Charles Barkley (34)
There’s an argument to be made for several players as the greatest 76er of all time. However, the best ones are made for ‘Dr. J’ Julius Erving, who played 11 seasons with the team, making the All-Star team each year. He also won NBA MVP as a Sixer in 1981, a title with the team in 1983, and is considered an NBA icon.
Forbes says the Sixers are worth $3.1 billion, making the team 10th in the 30 teams in the NBA. The Golden State Warriors top the list at $7 billion.
The Sixers official Twitter account is @sixers. The account launched in September 2008 and has more than 1.9 million followers.
The 76ers 2020-21 City Edition uniform features a Boathouse Row graphic, based on the Historic National Landmark that runs along the Schuylkill River west of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. You can buy the jersey through the NBA store online.
