888 Poker NJ was one of the first online poker rooms open to players in New Jersey.

888 Poker shares its player pool with WSOP NJ, which makes it the second-largest network in New Jersey in terms of traffic. The software is perfectly functional but fairly unimpressive from a technical standpoint. It could definitely use more frequent updates.

Cash games aren’t a strong point, but available tournaments are amazing and allow 888 Poker to challenge PokerStars' hegemony over NJ’s online poker market.

On May 1, 2018, the Multi-State Internet Gaming Alliance launched. This means 888 Poker and WSOP.com players in NJ can play cash games with players from Nevada and Delaware. The shared player pool unites the family of 888/WSOP players in all three states.

888 Poker NJ bonuses

The following welcome packages are available to new 888 Poker players:

no-deposit bonus

This NJ online gambling bonus will be credited to your account as soon as it gets verified. Keep in mind that only $10 can be used for poker – the remaining money has to be wagered on casino games.

Of the $10 that's available for poker, $4 can be used on cash games, and $6 will be awarded in the form of six tournament tickets.

Both the cash and tournament tickets will expire after seven days.

Winnings generated from playing the bonus can be cashed out immediately, but the promotional money itself has to be cleared by accumulating 3 Status Points per dollar. Status Points are earned at a rate of 1 point per $0.50 paid in rake or tournament fees, so clearing the entire amount costs $6. This means that the cash bonus corresponds to 66 percent in rakeback.

Please note that while this bonus allows you to claim bonus money, it does not compare favorably with similar bonuses offered by other NJ-facing sites. For example, Borgata gives you for poker play exclusively.

888 Poker NJ matched deposit bonus

Deposit $10 or more to have your payment matched with a bonus, . For example, if you deposit $100, you will receive $100 – but if you transfer $1,600, your bonus will be capped at .

In terms of sheer size, this bonus is more in line with what's available on NJ-facing casino sites and significantly outdoes anything offered by competing poker rooms.

Unlike the no-deposit money, this bonus won't be credited to your account instantly. Rather, it will be released in $10 chunks, at a rate of 100 Bonus Points per chunk. Bonus Points are awarded at a rate of one point per $0.50 paid in rake or tournament fees.

Basically, as a new 888 customer, you get $1 for every $5 spent on the site, which means that the bonus has a value equal to a short-term 20 percent rakeback deal.

Consequently, while this bonus is the largest available in absolute terms, small-time depositors will get a better bang for their buck through PokerStars, where the first deposit bonus is equivalent to a whopping 55 percent rakeback.

888 Poker updates — May 2025

Don't forget that 888 Poker players get rewarded with special Rewards Freerolls. These freerolls occur daily, weekly and monthly and have prize pools up to $1,000. All players are eligible for the $50 Daily Freeroll, while players with Iron status or above are also eligible for the Iron $500 Freeroll that takes place every Friday night. Silver, Gold and Platinum members can take advantage of the $1,000 Freerolls held on the last Saturday of every month. That's $4,500 up for grabs every month.

There's also a crossover promotion between 888Poker and 888Casino. Play any casino game and you can win a $500 freeroll ticket! To get in on this action, play any 888Casino games between Sunday and the following Saturday, bet at least $25 and you'll get a ticket for the $500 Casino Freeroll held on Mondays at 7:05 pm.

There have been over 20 new titles added to the casino in the last month, bringing their gaming library up to 326 at the beginning of March, including 4 Blackjack options and 8 table games.

888 Poker NJ loyalty program

888 Poker has a tier-based loyalty program, with ranks being reset at the beginning of each calendar month. Your tier will be determined based on the amount of Status Points you've accumulated since the last reset. Here are the specific requirements:

  • Blue – default rank, no requirements
  • Iron – 50 SPs
  • Bronze – 200 SPs
  • Silver – 3,000 SPs
  • Gold – 6,000 SPs
  • Platinum – 20,000 SPs

SPs are earned at a rate of one point per $0.50 paid in fees and rake. Players also earn Reward Points, and the rate at which they are accrued depends on their account tier. RPs can be exchanged for cash at the rate of $10 per 1,000 points. Here's how much cashback this translates to for individual tiers:

  • Blue – 2.5 RPs for each SP earned (5% cashback)
  • Iron – 4 RPs for each SP earned (8% cashback)
  • Bronze – 5 RPs for each SP earned (10% cashback)
  • Silver – 7.5 RPs for each SP earned (15% cashback)
  • Gold – 10 RPs for each SP earned (20% cashback)
  • Platinum – 17.5 RPs for each SP earned (35% cashback)

All in all, reaching Gold tier and maintaining it requires at least $3,000 in monthly rake. Since most recreational players won’t even come close to the volumes required to achieve this, the average player should not expect more than 8-10 percent in rakeback.

Unfortunately, this isn't all that impressive by New Jersey standards, particularly when compared to the likes of PokerStars.

888 Poker NJ software

888 Poker was recognized as the poker operator of the year a number of times, but that was five years ago. There's no denying that 888's proprietary Dragonfish software still does its job, but the lack of any major client-side updates gives the lobby a dated look on both Windows and MacOS. Fortunately, looks aren't everything.

When it comes to functionality, 888’s software performs flawlessly and is 100 percent stable, which is very important in a real-money gaming setting. The security is also top-notch, and all data transmitted between your computer and the poker room’s server is encrypted SSL technology.

888 Poker NJ Android/iOS app

888 Poker's mobile app can be downloaded from iTunes and the Google Play Store. Minimum system requirements are as follows:

  • iOS 6.1 or better: iPad 2, iPad (retina display), iPod touch 4, iPhone 4 or better
  • Android 2.4 or better, an ARMv7/x86 processor and at least 256 MB of RAM

888 Poker NJ mobile features

The app gives you access to all the basic features you'd expect from a real money poker site. You can manage your deposits and withdrawals from the cashier menu, view your account information, and monitor your Rewards Points balance. All in all, it's a pretty neat addition to 888's offering, but we won't be uninstalling our desktop clients anytime soon.

888 Poker NJ mobile games

Cash games and tournaments are both supported. Unfortunately the app does not offer all of 888’s tournaments, which significantly reduces the app’s usefulness – after all, tournaments are 888’s strongest suit.

Available cash games include:

  • Texas Hold'em
  • Blast S&Gs
  • Omaha
  • Stud

However, the limited size of the New Jersey player pool makes it next to impossible to find any meaningful action at anything beyond the NLHE tables. Omaha enthusiasts will have to try their luck during peak hours, and preferably on the weekends.

Games at 888 Poker NJ

888 Poker gives you access to cash games and tournaments in multiple formats. Unfortunately, it does not perform as well as PokerStars in terms of variety.

Cash games

888 Poker's selection of cash games is modest and focused on NLHE.

Texas Hold'em can be played on 6-max and full-ring tables in no-limit format. Micro stake tables are available in both $0.01/$0.02 and $0.02/$0.04.

For standard games, the stakes range from $0.05/$0.10 all the way up to $50/$100, but finding players willing to put that much money on the line is very difficult. Except for peak traffic hours (and even then it’s a stretch), all high-stakes games are generally empty.

Omaha is usually played in pot-limit format, but a few no-limit tables are available as well. Available stakes range from $0.02/$0.04 to $5/$10, but most people play at $0.25/$0.50 tables. Unfortunately, outside peak hours, 888 Poker feels like an Omaha ghost town. Even during peak hours we were hard-pressed to find more than two or three active tables.

Stud is available in theory, but don’t count on finding an active table.

Tournaments

888 Poker’s tournament offering is significantly more impressive than their cash game selection:

Sit & Go tournaments

As you'd expect, most SnG players focus exclusively on Texas Hold'em. Buy-ins typically range from $1 to $5, though it’s possible to find the occasional $100 game running. Pot-limit Omaha SnGs are available, too, and usually feature a low $2 buy-in. Most games are 6-handed, but full-ring and heads-up SnGs are available as well.

Multi-table tournaments

As mentioned above, 888 Poker shares its network with WSOP.com, and WSOP is well known for its exceptional tournaments.

Players have access to daily $50 freerolls and a wide range of MTTs. On a typical day, you can register for 15-30 events. A typical low buy-in tournament hosted on 888 attracts about 150 players. The average ticket price hovers around the $15 mark.

It's worth noting that even high-roller tournaments with $100 buy-ins typically involve as many as 40 players, especially if that tournament is part of a larger series. All in all, nine out of 10 MTTs are played in a No-Limit Hold'em format, but finding some Pot-limit Omaha action isn’t too difficult.

Blast Sit'n'Gos

This is 888 Poker's own version of the popular Spin'n'Go format introduced by PokerStars. Every Blast SnG is played 4-handed with buy-ins ranging from $0.10 to $30. The prize pool is determined at random and is a multiple of the buy-in size. This multiple can range from 2x to as high as 10,000x.

Banking options at 888 Poker NJ

Like most NJ-facing iGaming sites, 888 Poker supports a wide range of banking options.

Deposit options

  • ACH transfer/eChecks
  • PayPal
  • MasterCard or Visa
  • Casino cage
  • PayNearMe

We recommend sticking to the e-wallets PayPal – it’s safe, quick, and almost guaranteed to work. If you don't mind the hassle, you can also fund your bankroll at a casino cage in Caesars Atlantic City, or at one of the 7-Eleven stores in the state.

Credit card payments should be avoided due to high rejection rates.

888 Poker NJ withdrawal options

  • ACH
  • Neteller
  • PayPal
  • Casino cage
  • Check by courier

Please note that the PayPal deposit method is available exclusively to players who already made a deposit using the option. Otherwise, we recommend ACH as the best alternative to e-wallet cash-outs.

Check by courier is fine, too, as long as you don’t mind the 10-15 day wait.

888 Poker NJ customer service

888 Poker has an extensive FAQ section with useful and detailed solutions to the majority of issues you might face. However, should you require direct human assistance, or if the FAQ fails to provide as much detail as you need, you can get in touch with 888’s customer services through the following channels:

Email: [email protected]
Phone: 1-855-218-6234

888 Poker NJ network

888 Poker has a shared player pool with WSOP.com, but some games are available exclusively to 888 players. The traffic is average by New Jersey standards and very poor when compared to international poker rooms.

Expect no more than 80 people on average and closer to 200 players during peak traffic hours. This shouldn't be a major problem if you're planning to play NL Hold'em, but might be an issue if you enjoy Omaha.

Network partners

888 Poker's partnership with WSOP allowed it to enter the New Jersey online gambling market very smoothly. This is due to the fact that WSOP is a property of Caesars Entertainment, a company with a land-based presence in Atlantic City.

888 Poker was among the first iGaming sites to obtain a license from New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement and operates under permit number NJIGP 15-007.
