Wondering what’s new on the Atlantic City poker scene?
Well, after months of speculation, poker pros are confirming that big live events are coming back to the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
It’s one of the events PlayNJ will continue monitoring. Beside the MGM-owned Borgata, two other Atlantic City casinos showcase live poker games in the Garden State. Cash games run 24/7 at the following casinos:
- Borgata (52 tables)
- Harrahs Resort (28 tables)
- Tropicana Atlantic City (10 tables)
Is a major Borgata poker series confirmed for 2025?
As seen by the Matt Stout tweet, Borgata has something major up their sleeves. According to an anonymous Borgata employee, the casino plans to host a live tournament series this January. Dates, tournament buy-ins and event schedule have not been released yet. New Jersey poker players are already buzzing with excitement from the news:

An expected Borgata/BetMGM online poker series is in the works as well to coincide with January events. More details are expected soon.
Other Borgata poker tournament news
The Borgata poker room has also upped the ante this fall and upgraded to a Super Survivor Series. The tournaments run Oct 17. through Oct. 21. Survivor series includes six different tournaments. This will include poker buy-ins ranging from $1,000- $4,000.
Borgata is hosting a Special Event Tournament Weekend starting with the Borgata Big Chip Bounty on Saturday, Oct. 23 followed by the Borgata Walk-Away Winning event Sunday, Oct. 24. Saturday’s event is a Super Play, Super Deep, Purple Chip Bounty ($500+$60+$500) and Sunday’s event is a $2,500 Semi-Turbo Survivor ($250+$30).
Daily poker tournaments are taking place every weekday in October starting at 11 a.m. Additional tournaments have been added Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m.
Borgata Atlantic City High Hands
The Borgata High Hand promotion is continuing this fall:
- $200 every 30 minutes Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m.-12 a.m.
- $250 every 15 minutes Fridays & Saturdays
And for this month, Borgata is hosting a Oktober-Best High Hand Weekend. Taking place Oct. 14-15, Borgata will give away $55,000 over the two days. Here’s how it works:
- $500 every 15 minutes with $1,000 Power Hours at noon, 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
- $1,500 bonus to the first Royal Flush dealt each day
The Borgata Bad Beat Jackpot stood at $100,000 as of Monday afternoon. To qualify for a bad beat, players must have quad 10s or better. Also the player must use two cards in their hand. Loser of the hand receives 40% of the jackpot. Winning hand gets 20% and 40% goes to the remaining players dealt into the hand.
PokerStars update: Not coming to Resorts AC
A PokerStars employee confirmed to PlayNJ that there will not be a live PokerStars series at Resorts Atlantic City this fall. Previously, there was some speculation that Resorts’ NJ online poker partner might bring one of its Championship of Online Poker (COOP) events to the AC Boardwalk casino.
However across the Delaware River, poker players will have a chance to win platinum passes to the Bahamas this winter.
Players will have three tournaments to grab a pass at the following events:
- October 8-9 Ladies’ Event at Live! Casino Philadelphia ($200 buy-in)
- October 13-16 $360 Main Event at Live! Casino Philadelphia ($200k guaranteed)
- October 27-30 $360 buy-in at Live! Casino Pittsburgh in Greensburg, PA
The winner of each of these events will be granted a $30,000 prize package. Included in that package is $25,000 entry into the PokerStars Player Championship (PSPC). The PSPC is set to be held in the Bahamas Jan. 22nd to Feb. 3,2023
The Platinum Pass includes the following:
- Buy-in to the $25,000 PSPC
- Six nights hotel accommodation for winner and a guest in a 5-star hotel
- Airport transfer
- $1,900 in expenses
- Platinum Pass Winner experiences during the event
Harrah’s rakeback details
Harrah’s Atlantic City will continue to run cash games only. No daily tournaments are available.The room offers a spread of mostly NLHE 1-2, 1-3, and 3-6 Limit Hold’em. On the weekends players can find some 2-5 NLHE games as well.
Harrah’s highlights their rakeback system. Rakeback is when a player earns monthly cash for the amount of hours logged at the tables.
- 50-79 hours: $50
- 80-99 hours: $100
- 100-149 hours: $150
- 150-199 hours: $250
- 200 plus hours: $300
The Marina District property’s high-hand promotions for the month include:
- $300 high hand every hour with a rollover (everyday except Wednesday)
- $250 on Wednesdays every 30 mins, but if the high hand is a Royal Flush the prize is double
- Royal Flush anytime using two cards in hand earns a $100 comp
In other Harrah’s news, the Bad Beat Jackpot stood at $50,000 as of Oct. 2. To qualify for a bad beat, players must have Four of a Kind, fives or better. Also the player must use two cards in their hand.
Tropicana Atlantic City poker club
For players traveling along the Boardwalk, The Tropicana is the lone casino with a poker room. The hours are 11 a.m.-6 a.m. daily.
Tropicana has rakeback as well:
- 50-89 hours: $75
- 90-129 hours: $15
- 130+ hours: $300
Some standout Tropicana Poker Club bonuses include:
